The UWYL Committees are open to all general body members. Please contact any of the Chairs or Co-Chairs to learn about their committee meetings and projects and how to participate.
Communications Committee:
Chair: Elizabeth Josephs, ejosephs@babc.com
Co-Chair: Julia Byron, Julia.byron@regions.com
Responsible for coordinating all internal and external communications and marketing of UWYL.
Key Responsibilities:
- Serve as a filter for all communications between the Steering Committee and UWYL stakeholders, including the Membership, to insure all communiqué are accurate, consistent with each other, consistent with the UWYL brand and reflective of the quality of UWYL and UWCA
- Work with UWCA staff to publish, maintain and update UWYL communication points
- Work with UWCA Vice President of Communications to cross-leverage resources for the benefit of UWYL and UWCA
- Work with and support other Committees in achieving the Mission and Vision of UWYL
Community & Membership Development Committee:

The Community & Membership Development Committee serves as the bridge between the United Way Young Leaders and other civic, corporate, and young professional groups. Additionally, they are charged with increasing membership in both quality and number.
Key Responsibilities:
- Establish and nurture relationships between UWYL and other organizations
- Cultivate new members and increase involvement within current membership
- Assist President of UWYL in establishing presence within companies and other groups
- Work with and support other Committees in achieving the Mission and Vision of UWYL
Hospitality Committee:

Co-Chair: Tevarius Foster, tfoster@southernco.com
The Hospitality Committee represents the best and strongest presentation of UWYL and the benefits of its membership. The Hospitality Committee is responsible for ensuring that all members, potential members and UWYL stakeholders have positive and pleasant interactions with UWYL.
Key Responsibilities:
- Responsible for educating UWYL membership on UWCA’s role in the community by planning regular tours of UWCA’s partner agencies.
- Responsible for coordinating events that foster team work, cooperation and unity between UWYL and its stakeholders, including UWCA, its partner agencies and other young professional groups
- Responsible for greeting guests and members, especially new members, at all UWYL events
- Responsible for providing accommodations for participants of UWYL events
- Work with and support other Committees in achieving the Mission and Vision of UWYL
Service Committee:
Chair: Lisa Jones-Boyd ( ljones1@onealsteel.com )
Co-Chair: Ashley Robertson ( ashes_005@hotmail.com )
Responsible for coordinating all UWYL service projects and events.
Key Responsibilities:
- Responsible for coordinating service activities that reflect the diverse talents and interests of the Membership and UWCA partner agencies
- In conjunction with the Community & Membership Development Committee, create joint service projects with other young professional organizations to increase total impact on UW agencies and encourage UW awareness
- Provide support for United Way initiatives such as Project Homeless Connect, Success by Six, Financial Stability Partnership, and the Visiting Allocations Team as well as UWYL signature events
- Work with and support other Committees in achieving the Mission and Vision of UWYL
