Today we’re kicking off our United Way campaign with the theme:
Because of You Hope Happens

Those words have never been so true or more welcome. By pledging to give to the United Way of Central Alabama (UWCA), you’re giving hope to people in need throughout our community – people from all walks of life, many of whom would not ordinarily need help were it not for the extraordinary time we’re living in. Your pledge funds the many United Way partner agencies and programs that impact thousands of lives every day of the year.

In 2019, for example, UWCA programs:
  • Served 503,667 meals through Meals on Wheels and the Senior Nutrition Program.
  • Provided information to 59,070 callers through the 2-1-1 Call Center
    and 1-800-AGE-LINE.
  • Helped 29,585 children receive literacy support.
  • Prepared 3,577 tax returns free of charge for working families.
  • Helped 490 veterans find stable housing.
*To help meet the immediate needs of the COVID-19 crisis, UWCA programs:
  • Delivered more than 213,000 self-stable meals to Meals on Wheels recipients and provided more than 25,280 meals to waitlist applicants.
  • Assisted 29,154 callers through the 2-1-1 Call Center.
  • Distributed $664,800 in grants from the Community Crisis Funds to support feeding programs, emergency assistance and distressed non-profits.
