DESCRIPTION:Honor September 11 Through Service\nUnited Way Hands On invites volunteers to join Birmingham’s 9/11 Day Meal Pack\, part of a nationwide day of unity and service commemorating the 25th anniversary of September 11.\nOn September 11\, 2026\, approximately 50\,000 volunteers in more than 50 cities across America will come together to pack millions of meals for families facing hunger. The national Unite for Good campaign honors those lost on September 11\, recognizes those who answered the call to serve and renews the spirit of unity and compassion that emerged in the days that followed. \n\nChoose a Volunteer Shift:\nEvent Crew\n\n\nThursday\, September 10\nSet-Up Team\nNoon–4 p.m. CDT \nPrepare the venue by setting up packing stations\, organizing supplies\, placing directional signage and supporting the logistics team. \n\n\nRegister to Volunteer\n\n \n\n\nFriday\, September 11 \nEvent Support Team\n7:30 a.m.–1 p.m. CDT \nServe as a Table Captain\, Heavy Lifter/Runner or Guest Services volunteer. Assignments will be based on event needs and volunteers’ abilities. \n\n\nRegister to Volunteer\n\n \n\n\nMeal Packing Team\n\n\nFriday\, September 11\nMeal Packing Team\n9 a.m.–11 a.m. CDT \nHelp assemble shelf-stable meals for neighbors facing hunger.
