This in-person training is designed for volunteers who can commit to at least 24 hours of service during the tax season, available Monday through Friday, from 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM. Please note that UWCA’s Tax Assistance is not available on evenings or weekends.
If you are unable to commit to volunteering or cannot attend the in-person training, a recorded Zoom version will be available for registration starting in early December. All in-person trainings combine basic and advanced topics into one comprehensive class. If you are new to taxes, you may choose to complete the basic training on Zoom as an introduction, though it is not required.
As a volunteer, you will engage with clients, ask questions, and ensure accurate and complete tax returns are filed, helping taxpayers access eligible credits. Throughout the process, you will have access to on-site tax specialists for any questions related to filing.
Once certified, you can choose your volunteering days and times that best fit your schedule, within the hours of 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM, Monday through Friday.
Up to 14 hours Continuing Education Credit available after volunteering for the following Professional Groups: Certified Public Accountant, Enrolled Agent, Attorney, Certified Financial Planner, Participants in IRS Annual Filing Season Program (AFSP).
