Since 1923, United Way of Central Alabama (UWCA) has faithfully served our region, addressing both immediate and long-term needs of residents. In celebration of our 100th anniversary, we are constructing a Centennial Park in each of the six counties we serve.
Each park will showcase standard primary elements, thoughtfully customized to reflect the unique characteristics of its community and location.
The Centennial Park planned in Walker County will be located at 200 20th Street East, Jasper, AL.
Outdoor classrooms are excellent multi-use facilities for civic clubs, church groups, neighborhood associations and other groups. This pavilion will be outfitted with multiple picnic tables and other amenities to provide a safe, covered location for gathering at the park.
The parks will include both fitness and play equipment, such as swings, pickle ball courts and other equipment for public use. Each park will have a variety of amenities customized to the needs of the community. There will also be other recreational amenities, such as BBQ grills, picnic tables, benches and garden elements.
United Way is seeking corporate/community partners who will invest in these community parks. The park construction will be a collaborative effort, actively built through volunteer labor and supervised by United Way Hands On team members. We are seeking corporate/community partners who will sponsor the park and provide volunteers for construction. This project will require 30 to 60 volunteers. The timeline for completion will range from one to three months, depending on location and permitting requirements.
*All sponsorship recognition and inclusion are subject to event and communication deadlines.
