We’re excited to launch our UWCA blog with the first of many conversations written by staff, volunteers, clients and community leaders  about our work to improve lives and community conditions.  Our goal is to feature timely , “let’s get more done” commentary.

But we’ll begin with a humble thank you and congratulations for helping United Way achieve a coveted recognition. In 2002, we received our first four star award for excellence in financial health, accountability and transparency from Charity Navigator.  It is with the same excitement that we tell  we have just received our 12th consecutive four star designation from Charity Navigator, the leading charity evaluator of nonprofit organizations.   It has been with the guidance of dedicated volunteer leaders, donors like you  and a dedicated staff that we continue to receive this recognition. Thank You.

Receiving four out of four stars indicates that United Way of Central Alabama adheres to good governance and other best practices that minimize the chance of unethical activities and consistently executes its mission in a responsible way. As an organization entrusted with your contributions, we will always go above and beyond minimum requirements in operational best practices and when  we  disclose our financial information.

Less than 1% of the charities Charity Navigator rates have received at least 12 consecutive 4-star evaluations. It means  that United Way of Central Alabama outperforms most other charities in America. We are proud of our legacy of accountability and transparency and we  are proud to be recognized as worthy of your trust. Click here to see the favorable review on Charity Navigator’s website.
