At United Way of Central Alabama (UWCA), we are proud to spotlight the work of our incredible team members who make a difference in our community every day. One such individual is Nhung Le, a first-generation college graduate who has been a vital part of our organization for the past three years.
Nhung was born and raised in Birmingham, where her mother emigrated from Vietnam in the 1980s. Nhung pursued her bachelor’s degree in social work at the University of Alabama at Birmingham and is currently working toward her master’s degree in the same field. After graduating in 2021, Nhung joined the United Way Area Agency on Aging as a Call Specialist in the Aging and Disability Resource Center.
In her role, Nhung assesses callers’ needs and connects clients to community agencies and programs that match their eligibility. Her passion for helping others extends beyond her daily responsibilities; she also leads the Language Access Subcommittee of UWCA’s Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Council. Nhung is dedicated to ensuring that everyone, especially those with limited English-speaking abilities, has access to essential services and programs.
Nhung’s commitment to her work and her community is truly inspiring. She often speaks about the incredible support she receives from her coworkers and mentors at UWCA, describing them as family. This supportive environment has helped her grow professionally, and she aspires to move into management in the future.
We are grateful to have Nhung as part of our team and look forward to seeing her continue to thrive and make a positive impact in Birmingham.
