WBRC 6 News Highlights United Way’s Childcare Expansion Grants

Gillian Brooks of WBRC 6 News recently interviewed Olivia Hayes, our Bold Goals Partnership Coordinator at United Way of Central Alabama (UWCA), on how a new grant is addressing the need for more childcare in Alabama. Currently, 40% of children under the age of six in Central Alabama lack access to childcare due to unavailability.

More than 400 spots will be created in childcare centers because of these grants, which will receive upwards of $25,000 each. “These funds allow centers to build another classroom, so they are able to serve additional children,” said Hayes.

The deadline to apply for these grants is October 31st. Find out more information and apply here.
