Chip Bivins and his wife Pam have three adult sons, two daughters-in-law, and four grandchildren. A native of Birmingham, Chip is active in his Church and community. Chip and Pam are long-time supporters of United Way and currently are members of the Tocqueville Society and the J. Mason Davis Leadership Society. Chip serves on the United Way board as Chairman. His additional community involvement includes – Leadership Alabama, Leadership Birmingham, and Vulcan Kiwanis. Chip has also served on the boards of Big Brothers Big Sisters of Greater Birmingham, Oasis Counseling, Birmingham Children’s Theatre, Birmingham Urban League, and Nonprofit Resource Center of Alabama. Chip and his family are members of the Peace Baptist Church of Mulga, where Chip serves as Chairman of the Deacon’s Board, Youth Sunday School teacher, and Bible study teacher.

Chip is Chief Audit and Compliance Officer for The University of Alabama System, the state’s largest higher education enterprise, comprised of three institutions providing regionally and nationally prominent teaching, research, and service programs. In this capacity Chip reports to the Chancellor and Board of Trustees. He has been in this role since January 2017.

Prior to joining the UA System staff, Chip had a 26-year career with Energen Corporation, including 13 years as Vice President of Audit and Compliance. A Certified Public Accountant, he was Audit Manager and worked with Deloitte for 10 years before joining the Energen Team. Chip is also a member of the Board of Directors of Blue Cross Blue Shield of Alabama where he serves as Chair of the Audit Committee and member of the Executive, and Compensation Committees. Chip received his bachelor’s and master’s in business administration from the University of Alabama.
