Volunteering for Meals on Wheels
“Volunteering or making an impact in the community is big on my heart,” said Jimy George, a Meals on Wheels volunteer. “As a matter of fact it adds to the job satisfaction. That management and APSO are behind this, makes me really proud to be working for Alabama power.”
Becky Wright, Director of Meals on Wheels of Jefferson County appreciates their help. “Through the volunteer route that Alabama Power manages for Meals on Wheels, approximately 18,500 meals are served per year.” Becky continued, “Meals on Wheels is more than just the hot meal. It’s also about the having that human contact or interaction.”
Meals on Wheels has provided homebound seniors or those with disabilities an average of 700 meals each day since 1975. To learn more about Meals on Wheels and how you can help, go to mowjeffco.org.
