Today we’re kicking off our annual campaign: Everyday Hero

When asked about heroes, most people think of the caped crusaders on the big screen. But what about the first responders who aid us in our most devastating moments? Or the selfless volunteers who work tirelessly to feed the hungry?

You don’t need super powers to be a hero for our community. In fact, all it takes is a desire to help…and a few clicks.

By donating to United Way of Central Alabama (UWCA), you join a team of Everyday Heroes who genuinely care about helping others and advancing our community. Each donation funds vital programs and United Way partner agencies that impact tens of thousands of people every year.

In 2018, for example, UWCA’s direct services:
  • connected 39,200 people to resources for help and information
  • distributed 11,240 children’s books to classrooms
  • helped 555 veterans find stable housing
  • prepared 3,560 tax returns free of charge for low-income neighbors.
And through the work of UWCA’s 80+ partner agencies, that number only increases exponentially – creating a ripple effect of positivity throughout our community.
