It’s a new year and exciting things are brewing for United Way of Central Alabama’s Young Philanthropists Society!
United Way was proud to host 80 donors at Avondale Brewery in April for a light-hearted Fête and Philanthropy.
Members and prospective members of the Young Philanthropists Society (YPS) had the opportunity to mingle and socialize with members of United Way’s Tocqueville Society, including 2015 Campaign Chair and CEO of Mayer Electric, Nancy Goedecke. With both long-time and new donors attending – this was the first mixer of its kind.
Layne Held of ServisFirst Bank expressed his excitement for chairing the group in 2015, along with Ginny Willings of Brasfield & Gorrie and Jemison Jones of O’Neal Industries. With this year’s campaign theme being “Why I Give,” Layne simply stated that he gives at the Leadership level because he’s able, and it’s the right thing to do.
The Young Philanthropists Society 
is a group of young professionals under age 40 who give at a Leadership level ($1,000 or more). Members of the society have a vision for pooling their resources to make a long-lasting impact in Central Alabama.

tone, the 2015 Campaign Tocqueville Chair from Brasfield & Gorrie, also invited attendees to step up to the Leadership level of giving to meet the large and growing needs in our community.
