The Aging and Disability Resource Center (ADRC) of the United Way Area Agency on Aging provides free information and referrals for seniors and people with disabilities in Jefferson County.

Contact the ADRC by phone at 1-800-AGE-LINE (1-800-243-5463) or make an appointment to visit us in person. We are available Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. at United Way of Central Alabama’s office, 3600 8th Avenue South, Birmingham, AL 35222.

The Aging and Disability Resource Center is widely recognized in Jefferson County as a place where seniors, as well as people of any age with disabilities, can receive accurate and unbiased information and direction concerning a wide array of assistance programs. Through reliable information, people are better able to evaluate their options with confidence relative to their current living situation and long-term care.

Our “No Wrong Door” approach is designed to coordinate and streamline access to many vital programs, thus ensuring that older adults, individuals with disabilities and family caregivers can easily obtain user-friendly information on public and private services.

Comprehensive Assistance

ADRC helps you make informed decisions about healthcare needs and long-term care options, including home and community-based services.

Screenings and Referrals

We provide screenings and appropriate referrals using the Universal Intake Form (UIF) for all services and programs offered at the Area Agency on Aging.

Eligibility Assistance

We assist with applications for the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP), Medicare Savings Programs (MSP), Low-Income Subsidy (LIS), Alabama Elderly Simplified Application Project (AESAP) and the Farmers Market Coupon Voucher Program.
