United Way of Central Alabama announced grant awards totaling $100,000 from its Community Crisis Fund to nonprofit organizations located in Chilton County.
The recipients include Chilton County Emergency Assistance and YMCA of Chilton County.
Chilton County Emergency Assistance will use their grant funds to supply food, helping with emergency medical expenses for the uninsured and underinsured, and prescription drug assistance. YMCA of Chilton County will use their award for access to food, workforce support for the unemployed such as childcare, transportation, and supportive services.
Established in March, the Community Crisis Fund has provided grants to nonprofit organizations in Jefferson, Shelby, Walker, Blount, St. Clair, and Chilton Counties providing basic needs assistance, mental health support, and workforce support to the unemployed. Those needs include domestic violence intervention, utility, rent, and mortgage assistance, and employment placement services.
