This grant opportunity is available to existing DHR-licensed childcare providers who are interested in increasing the number of children enrolled in high-quality early learning programs throughout Central Alabama.
Eligibility & Funding Details
Funding must be spent within one calendar year (from June 1, 2025 to July 1, 2026).
Funding is expected to be used toward one-time expenses tied to increased enrollment. Requests geared toward continuous expenses, such as staffing, will not be considered.
If an applicant is at full or near-full capacity, funds can be applied only toward space expansion.
Facility repairs are an acceptable use of funds if they are tied to increasing capacity or enrollment. This includes, but is not limited to, bathroom repairs, playground repairs and repairs needed to make the facility a safer environment for children and staff.
Requests geared towards improving the learning environment are an acceptable use of funds if that improvement can be shown to connect to ongoing higher enrollment.
Funds cannot be utilized for materials not associated with increased enrollment, such as office chairs and supplies.
UWCA funding CANNOT be used to support lobbying or fundraising activities.
