United Way of Central Alabama’s (UWCA) Women United donor network is welcoming two new members to its Steering Committee, Elisha Williams of Flagstar Bank and Mya Horne of Regions Bank.
Elisha and Mya bring extensive professional experience and a shared commitment to community service to their new roles. Both also served as Loaned Executives during United Way’s 2025 Annual Campaign.
Through the Loaned Executive program, they worked alongside UWCA staff and community leaders to support workplace campaigns, engage donors and learn more about the programs and partnerships addressing Central Alabama’s most pressing needs. Now, with that experience as a foundation, they are helping guide Women United’s work in the community.
Elisha Williams Builds on a Longtime Commitment to United Way
Elisha Williams serves as Vice President and Credit Products Specialist for Middle Market Commercial Banking at Flagstar Bank, bringing more than 15 years of experience in commercial banking and risk management to her role.
Her connection to United Way dates back to 2011. Since then, she has supported annual campaigns in several capacities, most recently as a Loaned Executive in 2025.
That same year, Elisha joined Women United volunteers for the group’s annual Habitat for Humanity build.
“Habitat for Humanity [a UWCA partner agency] is a cause close to my heart,” said Williams. “Homeownership is such an important step for families, and I value how Habitat helps remove the barriers that can make it out of reach.”
As a member of the Women United Steering Committee, Elisha will continue supporting opportunities that bring women together to serve, lead and create meaningful change throughout Central Alabama.
Mya Horne Brings a Collaborative Spirit to Women United
Mya Horne is Vice President and Consumer Compliance Administrator for Regions Home Improvement Financing at Regions Bank. During her nearly 13-year career with Regions, she has developed extensive experience in risk, governance and compliance.
Her commitment to serving others extends beyond her professional role. Mya is an active member of the Junior League of Birmingham and volunteers with the youth ministry at Guiding Light Church. She is also a dedicated mother who can often be found cheering on her daughters as they participate in soccer, cross-country and competitive diving.
Serving as a Loaned Executive in 2025 allowed Mya to deepen her understanding of United Way’s work and connect with professionals who share her commitment to strengthening the community.
“My experience as a Loaned Executive showed me how much can be accomplished when people unite around a shared purpose,” Mya said. “I am excited to continue serving alongside others through Women United.”
Mya will channel that experience, collaborative spirit and dedication to service in her new role on the Women United Steering Committee.
Opportunities to Learn and Serve
Elisha and Mya join the Steering Committee as Women United prepares for several opportunities to bring members together through education and service.
In October, Women United and the Young Philanthropists Society will host a lunch-and-learn focused on barriers for women in the workplace. Members will explore challenges affecting professionals and discuss ways to create more supportive workplaces.
Women United will also host its annual Habitat for Humanity build on October 2nd. Volunteers will work alongside one another to support affordable housing and help a local family move closer to homeownership.
These events reflect the heart of Women United by connecting women who are committed to learning, leading and creating meaningful change across Central Alabama. Through their service on the Steering Committee, Elisha and Mya will help strengthen those connections and expand the group’s impact.
