The work of United Way of Central Alabama (UWCA) is fueled not only by generosity, but by people who choose to stay engaged — people who want to understand the challenges facing their community and be part of the solutions.
That shared commitment brought members of the J. Mason Davis Leadership Society, Women United and the Young Philanthropists Society together at UWCA’s 2026 All Donor Network event at The Club.
Against the backdrop of Birmingham’s skyline, the evening created space to reflect on how collective giving, learning and service translate into meaningful, lasting impact across Central Alabama.
Engagement That Inspires Leadership and Action
“Our primary purpose is to champion literacy as a foundational pillar for individual and community empowerment,” said Ken Davis of Regions, who serves on the J. Mason Davis Leadership Society Steering Committee. “We’re working to expand our reach and elevate our impact in the community, and that’s where our focus is right now.”
For Andrea Florio of Regions Bank, a Women United Steering Committee member, her involvement has gone beyond volunteering alone. Through Women United, she has built meaningful relationships, gained a deeper understanding of critical community issues and acted alongside other women who share a commitment to service.
“I’m proud to stand with this community of women who lead with heart, purpose and action,” said Florio.
That emphasis on engagement and hands-on involvement also defines the Young Philanthropists Society. Members stay actively connected through service days, partner agency tours and volunteer opportunities. This connects generosity with real-world experience and outcomes.
What’s Next for UWCA Donor Networks
Together, these donor networks offer meaningful ways for individuals to learn, lead and serve. This strengthens UWCA’s ability to drive positive change throughout Central Alabama. A sampling of upcoming events and volunteer opportunities for each group includes:
• J. Mason Davis Leadership Society’s Children’s Mental Health Panel Discussion on February 26th.
• Women United’s Period Supply Drive in partnership with United Way Hands On from March 9th through March 29th.
• Young Philanthropists Society’s first-ever Habitat for Humanity build day on March 13th.
