Staff Sergeant Parker Gordon Fox Suicide Prevention Support Program (SSG Fox)

Priority Veteran has received a grant from the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) to establish a suicide prevention support program serving Veterans in Central Alabama.

Awarded through the Staff Sergeant Parker Gordon Fox Suicide Prevention Grant Program (SSG Fox), the funding will support a new program focused on helping Veterans access support and strengthen connections in their communities.

The VA grant program supports community-based organizations that use non-clinical, peer-led and other approaches to engage eligible Veterans, including those who are not yet connected with VA services.

Program status:

Preparing to launch; service and referral details coming soon.

Service area:

Blount, Chilton, Jefferson, Shelby, St. Clair and Walker counties.

Expanding Support for Veterans

Since 2013, Priority Veteran has helped Veterans and their families work toward lasting housing stability. The new SSG Fox Suicide Prevention Support Program will expand that work through a separate program dedicated to suicide prevention.

Priority Veteran’s existing Supportive Services for Veteran Families (SSVF) program will continue providing housing support. Each program will have its own services, eligibility requirements and service area.

Preparing to Launch

Priority Veteran is working with VA to complete onboarding and prepare the new program for launch. Information about available services, eligibility and how to request support or make a referral will be added to this page as details are finalized.

The SSG Fox program will serve UWCA’s six-county area: Blount, Chilton, Jefferson, Shelby, St. Clair and Walker counties.
