Starting school is a big step for any child. With your help, we can make sure Pre-K students across Central Alabama have the tools they need to thrive from day one
Through our Success By 6 initiative, we are working to deliver student and teacher kits to local Pre-K classrooms by Labor Day. These kits include essential supplies such as crayons, markers, scissors and construction paper. Every item is selected by early education professionals to support hands-on learning and help build the skills children need before they start school.
Each student kit costs $40. A gift of $80 equips two children with the supplies they need to start strong. A $120 donation provides a complete teacher kit, filled with classroom essentials such as sentence strips, disinfectant wipes and other materials that help teachers create engaging, organized spaces for learning.
Why Your Gift Matters
Ninety percent of brain development happens before age five. That is why early learning is so critical, and why having the right tools in the classroom makes all the difference for students and teachers. Your donation helps children develop foundational skills and gives teachers the resources they need to teach effectively from day one. Amber Whitfield, Program Director of Early Education in the Community Initiatives department, sees the impact of these kits firsthand.
“When classrooms have what they need,” she said, “children can focus on learning. These kits create engaging spaces where young minds can explore, create and grow — and they help teachers deliver high-quality lessons that truly prepare kids for school.”
We will deliver the kits after Labor Day, and they will be used throughout the school year. Every gift gets us closer to making sure every child and every teacher is ready for a strong start.
