So many children in Central Alabama are in desperate need, and are stuck in a cycle where their situation prevents them from taking advantage of potentially life-changing resources…such as school. Without basic necessities, including clean clothes, eyeglasses, supplies and transportation, many kids simply don’t go to school because they’re too embarrassed or just can’t get there. United Way of Central Alabama wants to change that, so that all children in our community get the education they deserve.
United Way’s Central Alabama Children’s Fund allows school systems in Blount, Jefferson, Shelby, St. Clair and Walker counties to use unrestricted dollars to immediately meet a child’s most pressing needs. For a first-hand perspective on how little things can mean so much to a child in need, listen to United Way Campaign Hero Janet talk about the impact your support of the fund can have.
