United Way of Central Alabama and Birmingham City Schools have partnered to offer a high dosage tutoring program that supports students in grades 6 through 12 in reading and math .

Make a Difference as a Paid Tutor!
This initiative was created to help students overcome disrupted learning and continues to play a vital role in academic recovery. It’s a rewarding opportunity to earn income, gain experience and make a meaningful impact in the lives of young learners.
Program Details
💵 Pay: $15/hour
🕐 Hours: Flexible scheduling — from 5 to 20 hours per week
🎓 Who: College students from UAB, Miles College, Jefferson State, Lawson State and Samford University
👩🏫 What: High-impact tutoring in small groups of 3 to 5 students in 30-minute sessions
📍 Where: Assigned Birmingham City Schools
📅 When: Applications are open now and will be accepted on a rolling basis until all positions are filled.
