United Way of Central Alabama (UWCA) brought its 2025 Campaign to a close on Thursday, December 11th, with a celebration at The Fennec in Birmingham.
The event brought together donors, volunteers, partner agencies and staff — the people who shaped this year’s theme WHY WE UNITE through their work and commitment across Central Alabama.
With a fundraising goal of $37,650,000, the campaign exceeded expectations by raising $39,010,817 — more than $1.3 million above target.
These funds will support hundreds of partner agencies, programs and services across Central Alabama, expanding capacity for crisis response, hunger relief, education, financial stability efforts and other essential resources for local families.
United Way Ensures Strong and Responsible Investments
A foundation of strong systems and community relationships made this achievement possible. Community Impact Committee Co-Chair Liz Huntley of Lightfoot, Franklin & White underscored the role of the Visiting Allocations Team, whose on-site reviews guide funding decisions and ensure accountability throughout the year.
“The Visiting Allocations Team represents the root of our commitment to responsible stewardship,” Huntley said. “These volunteers help ensure every dollar serves its intended purpose, yields maximum impact and transforms lives.”

The campaign’s momentum was also driven by the Loaned Executives, volunteers and workplace partners who championed UWCA across six counties. This year’s Campaign Chair Trey Clegg, Executive Vice President of Corporate Affairs at Brasfield & Gorrie, reflected on the collective effort behind the campaign’s results and the individuals who contributed to its success.
“These dollars represent real people — individuals and families with real needs — who will be touched by your support,” said Clegg.
Volunteer Leadership That Moves Our Community Forward

The evening also celebrated leadership that strengthened the campaign behind the scenes. Aimee Comer of Robins & Morton and Lindsay Heard of Brasfield & Gorrie, together, received the Mervyn H. Sterne Award, UWCA’s highest volunteer honor in recognition of a volunteer or campaign unit whose service makes the most significant contribution to the annual campaign.
As Co-Chairs of the Loaned Executive program, Comer and Heard recruited 29 Loaned Executives, an increase from the previous year, and provided structure, coordination and mentorship throughout the season — work that strengthened one of the campaign’s most impactful volunteer teams.
Looking Ahead
While the 2025 campaign has concluded, United Way emphasized that its work continues every day of the year. As President & CEO Drew Langloh noted,
“Today, we reflect not only on all that has been accomplished during this campaign, but also on the strength of our continued mission to come together and support our neighbors in times of need.”
