To support Central Alabama during these unprecedented times, United Way of Central Alabama launched the Community Crisis Fund, which provides funding to nonprofit organizations stressed by dwindling resources and increasing needs that are a direct result of the COVID-19 pandemic.
Funds are distributed through two channels: the Human Needs Assistance Fund, which is designed to supplement agencies’ abilities to meet basic human needs during a crisis, and the Nonprofit Sustainability Fund, which supports organizations’ operational costs.
To date, these funds have awarded grants totaling more than $461,000 to support the work of more than 80 nonprofit agencies throughout Central Alabama.
