Birmingham, Alabama– United Way of Central Alabama’s sound fiscal management practices and commitment to accountability and transparency have earned it a 4-star rating from Charity Navigator, America’s largest independent charity evaluator. This is the 14th consecutive time that United Way of Central Alabama has earned this top distinction.
This is Charity Navigator’s highest possible rating and indicates that United Way of Central Alabama adheres to sector best practices and executes its mission in a financially efficient way. Less than 1% of the charities evaluated have received at least 14 consecutive 4-star evaluations, indicating that United Way of Central Alabama outperforms most other charities in America.
“This honor puts us in a select group of high performing charities,” said John A. Langloh, President and CEO. ” It is our hope that this honor will give donors greater confidence in their charitable support. ”
According to Michael Thatcher, President & CEO of Charity Navigator, out of the thousands of nonprofits Charity Navigator evaluates, only one out of four earns 4 stars — a rating that demands rigor, responsibility and commitment to openness. ” United Way of Central Alabama’s supporters should feel much more confident that their hard-earned dollars are being used efficiently and responsibly when it acquires such a high rating, said Thatcher.”
