How United Way of Central Alabama Supports Chilton County
United Way improves lives and community conditions by addressing specific areas of need through donor support, state and federal grants, key partnerships, coalitions, strategic planning and our own ongoing community service programs.
Chilton County United Way joined the United Way of Central Alabama on January 1, 2021. The Chilton County campaign is made up of a number of generous individuals and businesses.
The mission of United Way of Central Alabama (UWCA) is to increase people’s capacity to care for one another and improve their communities.
By combining local insight with regional resources, UWCA tackles challenges in Chilton County through targeted investments, coalitions and community service programs—ensuring that support reaches where it’s needed most.

GRATITUDE INTO ACTION THROUGH SERVICE
Liz Huntley knows firsthand the difference a caring community can make. As Co-Chair of UWCA’s Chilton County Advisory Board, she helps direct resources to local organizations serving children and families, strengthening education and meeting urgent needs across the county. Her service is rooted in a deeply personal belief in the power of community support to change lives.

Clients were provided workforce development support in Chilton County, equipping participants with job skills and resources needed to pursue stable employment and economic independence
Meals (87,000 pounds of food) were distributed to 4,200 individuals and families,a 50% increase in total pounds of food distributed compared to the prior year
Individuals were served through equine‑assisted mental health and resilience programs, with grant funding covering liability insurance to keep programs operating safely year‑round

Butterfly Bridge Children’s Advocacy Center
Butterfly Bridge Children’s Advocacy Center is a safe, child-friendly environment where healing and justice can begin for children who have been abused or neglected. One young client, for example, who felt scared and alone when she joined Butterfly Bridge at age 12, had lost her mother when she was only 6. Soon afterwards, her father began abusing her until he was finally arrested. With support from Butterfly Bridge’s team of caring professionals, she found the strength and resources to take back her life. Butterfly Bridge Children’s Advocacy Center brings together law enforcement, child protective services, therapists, case workers and nurses to support traumatized children and their families every step of the way.

Raleigh’s Place
As we move into year two of Chilton County and United Way of Central Alabama joining forces, funding includes nine partner agencies with local programs on the ground in Chilton County. Raleigh’s Place is one of those, which provides and supports foster homes, hosts a free summer camp, provides clothing and other resources, trains foster parents and equips teenage foster youth for life after care. Since Raleigh’s Place was founded, it has housed more than 300 foster children; more than 1,000 children have attended Camp 1:27; and 630 foster children and families have received clothing through Katie’s Kloset.
