United Way of Central Alabama’s Financial and Housing Education program provides education, counseling and personalized support for homeowners, homebuyers and renters. Our program is approved by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD).
Whether you are preparing to buy a home, facing a housing challenge or working to strengthen your finances, our team can help you understand your options and identify your next steps.

The Housing Counseling Intake Form is not an application for direct financial assistance. The Financial and Housing Education program does not provide emergency funds or make direct payments for rent, utilities, food, transportation or other household expenses.

Get objective information about Home Equity Conversion Mortgages and the responsibilities, costs and alternatives involved.

Financial Workshops
Our annual series of FREE financial workshops, presented by specialists in their fields, are open to the community. Each workshop is focused on a particular subject, ranging all the way from how to apply for a mortgage to how to save money by couponing. Other sessions may address topics such as:
